Support to Old People
Support structures for old and destitute people
Health – Senior generations
The monastery of Sershul Gompa accommodates about forty old people without financial or local resources and incapable of providing for their basic needs.
A minimal standard of living is assured these people, such as: food, shelter and medicine when necessary.
However, the dwellings that sheltered them had inappropriate flooring (soil), which had a negative impact on ailments such as rheumatism and arthritis due to the build up of humidity. In 2009-2010, Norlha financed the enlargement of this home as well as the installation of wooden flooring for the 40 existing rooms.
In 2011, Norlha’s aim is to enlarge the centre by a further 10 bedrooms, and to construct a dining room and kitchen for the residents.
Norlha seeks financial support for this project in 2010-2011.
